What is BOX?

BOX is LYNfabrikkens window gallery in Vestergade, creating space for all the inspiration emerging from the clash between art and design. Into this little square we invite national as well as international players in the field of design, architecture and crafts, and allow them to exhibit and explore the part of their production that is more art work than product.

BOX is a closed space, and all exhibitions can therefore ‘only’ be experienced standing on the street, giving BOX the effect of a shop showcase. This means that its audience is the passerby as well as the person stopping up to have a closer look. BOX interferes with life in the street, is always available, and offers inspiration to everybody on their way through the city – in the form of a quick fix or a fixture for thoughts.

The exhibitor is given free hands to equip and use BOX, but has to meet the gallery’s only dogma; to design a unique carpet for the exhibition. A concept developed in close collaboration with Ege Carpets, giving BOX its very own expression and connecting the exhibitions. On this page you can find information about past and future exhibitions, and watch photos and artist interviews from each exhibition.
